Council for the Independent Scrutiny of Heathrow Airport Open Forum 12 October 2023

Posted on October 12, 2023October 16, 2023 by admin

We attended the annual event held by Council for the Independent Scrutiny of Heathrow Airport (CISHA) Open Forum on 12 October 2023. This is how we ensure we are part of the consultative structures organised through Heathrow Airport. The forum was chaired by CISHA’s Chair, Baroness Liz Sugg who was Minister for Aviation at the Department for Transport from 2017 – 2019. The event was attended by the outgoing Chief Executive John Holland-Kaye.

(CISHA) ensures independent oversight of the way Heathrow Airport engages with stakeholders such as our Association. The Council and its forums work with stakeholders to make progress on the issues that matter to them. CISHA holds the airport to account and work to help ensure it is the best neighbour it can be.

Some of the key issues CISHA is prioritising are ones that blight our village:

  • Meet and Greet
  • Air quality
  • Noise – new insulation scheme to be announced that is simpler than the previous one.

Local Community Forum (LCF)

The LCF facilitates constructive dialogue between the airport and local communities such as our village. We are a member of the LCF and raise issues there to seek solutions we share with other communities. As well as vehicle issues (Meet and Greet, taxis, holiday parkers, and HGVs), we lobby for the airport to do more in our community. Another issue affecting communities are rogue planes arriving during night time and what the airport can do to minimise them (charge the airlines a bigger fee).

The forum speakers also discussed the prospect of a new train line and improve bus links.

Heathrow Airwatch were also present at the forum to promote their website for information on air quality. Air quality is a priority for CISHA.
