Public Spaces Protection Order
From May 2024 Stanwell Moor has the benefit of a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) banning private hire cars on its roads. The village has been lobbying Spelthorne Borough Council and Heathrow Airport for action against private hire cabs clogging its roads, littering its streets and abusing residents. This is positive news demonstrating that our village can confidently make its case for action with key stakeholders responding to its needs.
Spout Lane and Horton Road are hotspots for offending private hire cars.
In May 2024, a PSPO was introduced regarding the misuse of public land which covers a ban on tents or similar structures, cooking devices such as barbecues and a parking exclusion zone where taxis are prohibited from parking in Stanwell Moor and parts of Stanwell.
Since May 2024 over 560 warnings have been issued to cabs breaking the PSPO by parking in the exclusion area. The order sets out an exclusion area and signs have been put on the roads in and out of the area. Residents can report offending private hire cars to Spelthorne Borough Council by sending photographs.
The Council enforcement officers are now issuing fixed penalty notices to offending private hire cars. You can now directly contact the Council with photographs of offending private hire cabs. The Council has so far also contacted 90 Councils to inform them of private hire cabs that are licensed by the respective councils that are breaching the Order.
