Keeping the village clean
The village litter pickers have been out cleaning up our hedges and ditches again!
The group litter pick on 23 January 2024 led to five bin bags of litter being filled. Also, fly tipping was found. Rubbish from the ditches either side of Vine Close and by Burneside was also collected. Clearing ditches enables them to naturally fill and minimise the risk of flooding. Further work from the County Council to cut back the overgrowth is still needed.
The session also discovered a number of unusual items in the ditches and hedges: a mobile phone, tyre, child’s piano, for sale sign, and a plastic pipe.
